Shameless US 2x01--Summertime--2012

Shameless is an American tv drama series that airs on Showtime on Sundays at ten pm/9 pm Central. It is based on the award-winning British series of the same name broadcast on Channel four. The series is set in Chicago's South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood. The series premiered on January 9, 2011. The show was renewed for a second season in February, 2011.

Premise

The show's producers sought to distinguish it from earlier American working-class shows by highlighting the effects that Frank's alcoholism has on the relatives. Paul Abbott, creator of the original, said, "It's not My Name Is Earl or Roseanne. It is got a much graver level of poverty attached to it. It is not blue collar; it is no collar." When John Wells, the showrunner, began pitching the show, they had to fight efforts to place the show in the South or in a trailer parkcomedic clichés. They explained, "We have a comedic custom of making fun of the people in those worlds. The reality is that these people are not 'the other'  they are individuals who live blocks down from you and blocks over."

The series follows the dysfunctional relatives of Frank Gallagher, a single sister of six kids. While they spends his days drunk, his kids learn to take care of themselves.
